RESUMEN DEL LIBRO:
The concept of the small ocean escort ship began around the 20th century when there was no real need for such a ship, especially since the United States wasn't at war. Destroyed Escorts were operated by the U.S. Navy during the World War Two, as well as France and Brazil. Further, the U.S. Coast Guard operated of the Edsall class Destroyers Escort, mainly in the Atlantic. Following World War Two, those DEs operated by the U.S Coast guard were returned to U.S. Navy control, while French and Brazilian operated 8 hunting retained theirs. When de Korea War broke in 1950 the U.S. Coast Guard again operated 10 of the same Edsall class Destroyer Escorts in the Pacific operating as a radio and weather ships and also to aid in air - sea rescue along th U.S. to Korea routes. The hull of the Destroyer Escort proved to be extremely versatile with conversions to Fast Attack Transport and Destroyer Escort Radar ships being undertaken during and following World War II.

El concepto del pequeño escolta oceánico se inició en el siglo XX, y no surgió de una necesidad, especialmente porque los Estados Unidos no combatían.
