RESUMEN DEL LIBRO: Part I of this book is concerned with the general background information necessary to make a cruise in these waters as enjoyable as possible. Technical information on climate and weather, documentation, etc, is included. Part II describes the routes into the islands, ports of refuge and includes an important section on the marine reserves which have sprung up over the last few years. Planning guides listing harbours, anchorages, headlands and passages, as well as distances between important places and the wind directions that might take the anchorage/port uncomfortable, if not actually dangerous, are found alongside the pilotage data in chapters III (Corsica), and IV (North Sardinia). In this guide, the circumnavigation of Corsica is taken anti - clockwise, starting from Ajaccio on the west coast, and the North Sardinia begins with Alghero on the west coast northwards. The pilotage notes have been written for power or sailing yachts of conventional design between 10 and 20 metres in length with a draft of 2 m. Note that small multihull are relatively rare in the Mediterranean. The plans provided for each harbours are simplified. The use of the term waypoint does not imply that all vessels can safely over these positions at all times or link adjacents waypoints to form routes unless specifically stated.
CORCEGA Y NORTE DE CERDEÑA:
La primera parte del libro, contiene información general, necesaria para poder realizar un crucero por estas aguas, disfrutando al máximo. La segunda parte, hace referencia a las rutas entre las islas y sus refugios; incluye además una sección importante acerca de las reservas marinas naturales, que han surgido en los últimos años. Planos de puertos, fondeaderos, cabos y travesías, incluyendo las distancias entre los lugares más importantes, los vientos y sus direcciones, que pueden hacer que un fondeadero o un puerto sean inseguro, si no peligrosos; se pueden hallar en los datos de los capítulos II, de Córcega y 4, del norte de Cerdeña. En esta guía la circunnavegación de Córcega, está tomada en sentido contrario, comenzando en Ajaccio, en la costa oeste; y el norte de Cerdeña, comienza en el Alguer, en la costa oeste, rumbo al norte. Las notas de pilotaje, sirven igualmente para embarcaciones a motor y a vela, o yates convencionales, de entre diez y veinte metros de eslora. Los planos de cada puerto, están simplificados y contiene una lista de waypoints.
