We posses it thanks to the labors of Bartolomé de Las Casas, who made abridgment and used it as source materials for his book History of the New World, first published after his death. Bartolomé was a close friend of Columbus's sons. The book reprinted consist of a full translation of the Las Casas abridgment of the log through October 14, 1492. Forty-four illustrations, including a number from rare sources, enhance this absorbing text, translated into English and set into large type for readers of all ages.
