RESUMEN DEL LIBRO: The 12-Volt bible for Boats is a complete introduction to the 12-volt electrical systems used on small boats to power everything from reading lights to bilge pumps. Written for boaters who are not electricians, it clearly explains how 12-volt system work and how to install, maintain, and troubleshooting them. This second edition has been thoroughly updated to include the latest on marine batteries, multistage chargers, inverters, new wiring conventions, alternative energy sources, and modern test gear. Although the foundation material found inthe first edition remains unchanged, things like Ohm's Law, electricity being the movement of electrons, and the interrelationsship of the players in this game of electro-magic is still the same. The basic methods of troubleshooting are still valid, but the equipment available to us for use in this endeavour has advanced significantly. In some cases, things have actually become bit simpler. As for the equipment we install in our boats advances like GPS for navigating, gel-celled batteries, and the newest AGM (absorbed glass mat) technologies have really gone a long way toward making boating simpler, and more enjoyable. So, as you read trough this second edition of this book, dont't look for wholesale changes in material. But do look for the following: updated material in the troubleshooting section that reflects, changes in multim-meters now available, changes in the sections discussing batteries their need, changes in equipment discussed - multi-stage battery chargers and DC to AC inverters, changes in types of circuit protection now available, changes in some of the hand-tools we use to perform basic tasks such as wire crimping and stripping.
