Rod Heikell
Rod Heikell is the aknowledged expert in sailing in the Mediterranean. His pilots have become the model for others and are often referred to as the bible. Since the publication of his first book, Greek Waters Pilot, in 1982 and now in its ninth edition, he has written over dozen others on related matters and also edits the Imray - Tetra chart series. His most recent yacht, Skylax, a Cardinal 46, is currently in tthe Mediterranean from the Caribbean, and after scrapes with Tropical Storm Peter and Hurricane Ivan he is happy to the back. He is currently working on several books and updating his backlist of pilots. He prefers gunk - holing to long passages, and sails with his wife, Lu, a lot of books and the BBC World Service for company.
